Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
Mr. Yue (Justin) Tang is X Financial’s founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Tang is responsible for overall business strategies and operation. Before starting X Financial, Mr. Tang co-founded eLong.com, an online travel service company in China in 1999. From 2006 to 2014, Mr. Tang was the founder and managing partner of Blue Ridge China, an investment and consulting company. Mr. Tang is also currently a director of Jidiao Network (Stock Code: 832015), a company listed on China’s National Equities Exchange and Quotations. Mr. Tang received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Concordia College.
President and Director
Mr. Kan (Kent) Li joined X Financial in 2015 and has served as the Company’s President since May 2021 and Director since December 2021. Mr. Li served as the Company’s Chief Risk Officer starting from November 2017 to November 2023. Prior to serving as the Company’s Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Li served as a division director in charge of unsecured loan risk from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, he served as a Sr. manager at Capital One Financial from September 2008 to November 2015, and had served many capacities in various position, including customer acquisition, customer management, as well as collections and recoveries. Before that, he worked as a Sr. Strategy Analyst for ATB Financial, a regional bank in Canada, from May 2005 to August 2008. Mr. Li received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in economics from Southwestern University of Economics and Finance. He has published several academic papers, including a research paper in Review of Economics and Statistics (edited by Harvard University).
Non-Executive Director
Mr. Shaoyong (Simon) Cheng joined X Financial in 2015 and has served as the Company’s Director since December 2017. From May 2021 to November 2023, Mr. Cheng served as Vice Chairman. Prior to serving as Vice Chairman, Mr. Cheng served as the Company’s President from 2017 to 2021 and Chief Risk Officer from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, Mr. Cheng served as deputy General Manager in charge of retail lending management at Bank of Communications, senior credit risk manager at HSBC North America and HSBC Asia Pacific. Mr. Cheng also served as head of CEO office and head of business banking at Hang Seng Bank China Limited, and manager at Capital One. Mr. Cheng received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in engineering and a bachelor's degree in economics from Tsinghua University, a master's degree in industrial engineering and an MBA degree from University of Southern California.
Independent Director
Shengwen Rong has served as X Financial’s independent director since the IPO. Since February 2017, Mr. Rong has served as the Chief Financial Officer at Yixia Technology Co., Ltd. Prior to that, Mr. Rong served as the Chief Financial Officer at Quixey, Inc. from 2015 to 2016, the Chief Financial Officer at UCWeb from 2012 to 2014, and the Chief Financial Officer at Country Style Cooking Restaurant Chain Co., Ltd from 2010 to 2012. Mr. Rong received a bachelor’s degree in international finance from Renmin University, a master’s degree in accounting from West Virginia University and an MBA degree from University of Chicago.
Independent Director
Zheng Xue has served as X Financial’s independent director since the IPO. Since August 2011, Mr. Xue has served as an independent director at Yingli Solor (NYSE: YGE). Mr. Xue served as the Chief Financial Officer at China Music Corporation from 2015 to 2017, the Chief Financial Officer at Lightinthebox Inc. from 2011 to 2014, partner at Softbank China & India Fund from 2008 to 2010, the Chief Financial Officer at Target Media from 2005 to 2007, and the Chief Financial Officer at eLong Inc. from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Xue received a bachelor’s degree in physics from University of Illinois and an MBA degree from University of Chicago.
Independent Director
Longgen has served as X Financial’s independent director since the IPO. Since January 2018, Mr. Zhang has served as the Chief Executive Officer at DAQO New Energy Corp. (NYSE: DQ) and an independent director at ZZ Capital International Limited. Prior to that, Mr. Zhang served as the Chief Financial Officer at Jinko Solar Energy Co., Ltd. (NYSE: JKS) from 2008 to 2014, and the Chief Financial Officer at Xinyuan Real Estate Co., Ltd. (NYSE: XIN) from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Zhang received a master’s degree in professional accounting from New Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in business administration from New Texas A&M University.
